If k -1 is a multiple of 4, what is the next larger multiple of 4?
A. k + 1
B. 4k
C. k - 5
D. k + 3
E. 4(k - 1)
Consecutive multiples of 4, such as 4, 8, and 12, always differ by 4. If k - 1 is a multiple of 4, then the next larger multiple of 4 is obtained by adding 4 to k -1, which gives k - 1 + 4 or k + 3.
