If p is divisible by 3 and q is divisible by 4, then pq must be divisible by each of the following EXCEPT:
A. 3
B. 4
C. 6
D. 9
E. 12
If p is divisible by 3 and q is divisible by 4, then pq must be divisible by any combination of prime factors of 3 and 4. Since 3 = 3 X 1 and 4 = 2 X 2, pq is divisible by each of the following: 3, 4, 3 X 2 or 6, and 3 X 2 X 2 or 12. Since no product of prime factors of 3 and 4 equals 9, pq cannot be divisible by 9.
