What is Intercostal retractions?
A. When the ribs collapse during CPR
B. When the Costal Arch is in spasm
C. When the heart retracts due to injury.
D. When the muscles between the ribs pull inward.
The intercostal muscles are the muscles between the ribs. During breathing, these muscles normally tighten and pull the rib cage up. Your chest expands and the lungs fill with air.
