What is the equation of the axis of symmetry of the graph y = 3x² + 12x - 2 ?
A. x = -2
B. x = 2
C. y = -2
D. y = 2
E. y = 1
There is a formula for finding this equation without graphing the parabola. Axis of symmetry is x=-b/(2a). So we have
x=(-12)/(2)(3)=-2
